Drained oil from crankcase, loosened large bolt in center of drop cover, cover dropped about 1 1/4 inches but will not come any more. Center bolt is loose, can turn it forever with fingers but center cover will not drop down. Have pried on cover somewhat with no success. Need some additional advise. If you have experienced this same dilema, maybe you can give me some constructive advise. Thank for any help. Ray

I was glad to see this post because I'm going to have to change my TE20 oil filter and don't know where to get one. Where did you get your new filter, and (if you still have it) what is the part number? Thanks....Mike in Iowa

Had same issue when bought my little TO 20. Pulled pan, held suct pipe in vice, and removed lower nut {cover}. I guess your prob. is common as both the cover bolt & suct. pipe are right hand threads. A creative soul could spot-weld, Lock tight, or Set Screw the pipe-thread, I guess. I just tightened the pipe good and snug, put the pan back on, & invested in a new copper gasket for the lower nut(S) so I don"t gotta over tighten same. I personally can't hold a little thing, like pull'n a pan against these cute & otherwise overbuilt & welll thought-out machines.

Pulled oil pan, washer at top end of filter cart. bolt is welded on, hence bolt will not come out through filter cover. Appears filter has not been changed for some time. Has anyone experienced this in the past and what did you do? This forum appears rather inactive at times. Ray A

Solved problem with help. Found pipe came out of Center Main instead of Access Cover Plug comming out of pipe. Hence, what I was seeing was top of pipe with washer and spring. Therefore, the filter and cover would not come down through the access hole. Used a vice-grip to hold pipe and turned plug out of pipe. Thanks for all that gave me help in solving problem.

I assume you have a Continental Z120 engine? On mine, there was just a short bolt that threaded into the bottom of the filter tube. There where no washers inside the pan, only outside. How long is your bolt? You didnt unscrew the whole bolt and tube from the bottom of the bearing cap did you? I don't know why there would be a washer welded to the bolt itself. Dan
