The piece that the third link attaches to on my TO-20 appears to be very worn. This is the piece that mounts to the differential, the draft control spring and has the hole for the third link. Does anyone know if a replacement is available and how do I get this one off?

Neal

Neal,
I believe the part that your referring to is called the yoke on the hydraulic lift. Part number 181 055 M1 according to my TO20 parts book. My book indicates that the same part was used on the Ford 9n and 2n. The yoke screws onto the plunger. My repair manual states that the yoke should be unscrewed from the plunger every 6 months and lubed in order to keep the yoke from freezing onto the plunger (i read ie:bad design) The trick is how to remove without damaging the metal forks inside the differential unit. Too much pressure and broken forks will surely result. I would spray good penetrating oil for several days, then use a torch to heat her up real good, and then very gently try to turn her.
Also, you may want to check the Ford N Board, I have seen other suggestions there. The part should be available from Massey Ferguson Dealer or from Ford. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info but I think you got the wrong part. The one I'm looking at has two side plates with three holes in them in sort of a triangle configuration. One set of holes has a shaft through it to retain this to the differential. The holes nearest the front have a bolt throught them that also goes through what is,from your description, the yoke. The third set of holes is where the top link mounts with a pin. I'm assuming mine is worn because the hole where the top link mounts is elongated to almost twice its diameter. I bought a service manual and it doesn't address this. I'm going to order both parts and owners manuals but was sort of anxious to get started.

Thanks Again Neal

NEAL,
Sorry for the confusion. The part you were referring to according to the manual is the rocker, hydraulic lift. I have a question, what is your top link? is it original, my to 20 is missing that part, and I don't know if I should try original or aftermarket. Best regards.
Gary

Gary

My top link is a modern replacement like you would buy at CT or TSC. I haven't had my tractor very long and have only used it to mow so far but this top link seems to work just fine.
