TO30 Charging?

I converted my TO30 to 12v self exciting single wire with 12v coil last fall (best thing I have ever done) since then I have done minimal work with it as in light blading and brushhogging, and everything seems ok. Heavy charge right after startup(-15to +15 amp guage) then back to almost no charge within a few min. The last couple weeks I have done a lot of brushhogging in my big field 2 to 3 hours at a time, very hot conditions and lots of leaves and hood high scrub. After the initial start it would go down as I said earlier but after a few days the charge would slowly go back up to almost +15. I thought it was related to heat as I would have to stop every 15 min or so to brush off the radiator from leaves and debris. But now I used it yesterday to just drag some logs to the cabin and it went up and stayed at about 13 to 15 amps the whole time? It still starts ok and runs ok but I am concerned as it never did this when i put the new setup on. Any suggestions?
