I have a TO-35 with a push button starter switch. Does anyone know the restistance the button should have? Are there any other tests to see if it is working correctly?

Thanks everyone, I'm gonna try cleaning it before I buy a new one.

NT;
I assume you mean electrical resistance (impedence).
Switches are usually rated by current (amps or
watts) and voltage. If you tested the switch
using an analog VOM meter it should zero (or close
to it) when depressed. I think with a switch, its
more of a testfor continuity: it's either open or
closed or inthe case of a started switch,
momentary closed. Granted, if the contacts are
dirty, pitted, broken or loose, the switch's
ability to handle the rated current will be
affected. I've dissembled that same switch on my
TO-35 because it was intermittently making
contact. Cleaning it helped but I still
replaced it with a "universal" one form Napa (I
think). BTW, I'm not an expert in this stuff,
only a casual student of trial 'n error. :>)
HTH,
Roger

Mine has noticeable resistance when I depress it. Don't know how to measure that, but why don't you tell us what the problem is and maybe we can help.
