I have an old fergy 20 that was overhauled about 3 yrs ago but only has about 50 running hrs on it.My problem is my oil pressure starts out at 30 lbs but decreases as it heats up to where it hardly registers on the guage.I have been using 30 wt oil. Thanks for any help

Hi Bob

I had a similar problem with my TEA-20 I had very little oil pressure until I changed my oil and filter. After this my pressure went from 18psi to 60lbs psi according to my gauge. The 60 lbs psi stays at this level until the tractor gets hot and has been running for an hour or so. Then it drops to 30 lbs psi The tractor works as good at 30 lbs psi as it does at 60 psi
Good luck
Barry

The gauges art not accurate, merely an indicator of pressure. If any reading is registering and there is no valve rocker arm noise your engine is OK per owners manual. Check the pressure with a known quality test gauge to determine accurate pressures. The oil pump relief valve limits pressure to 30 psi and will fail occasionally; did you replace it at overhaul? If not, you'll find an easy procedure with a search of this board.

that sounds odd. My 1951 TVO TED20 runs at an oil pressure of around 60 lbs/ square ". It doesnt usually differ from this much when the engine is hot (50 - 60). Im not sure if the different engines differ in oil pressure. My tractor hasnt done many hours of work as it sat for most of 50 years in some boys hay shed.
