Good Morning Everyone
Last saturday I drove my TEA-20 to my fathers place. He is going to paint the old girl for me. It was a 40 minute drive from my place to his. Once I got there and the tractor sat for about an hour. I noticed oil leaking from the center hub on the back left side. I thought maybe it was liquid from the back tires, I think they are loaded tires.Could this have been caused by running the tractor in 4th gear for 40 minutes? I was only moving about 1/2 throttle. I looked closer and noticed that it was dripping from under the fender and down onto the wheel itself. Where is this oil coming from? Is it from the trans case? Do I need to change this oil as well? any help would be great, thanks again

If it's truly oil, it likely isn't from the tires but from the rear axle. Do you have good brakes on the left side? When the axle seals leak they usually contaminate the brake shoes.

Yes, my brakes seem quite fine to tell you the truth. Are the rear seals very tuff to change, just in case I need to do that? Thanks again

I only know on the TO tractors. I assume they are the same, but not sure. The inner seals are easy, just pry out and drift them in, no sweat. The outer seals are more difficult, and I have taken axles to tractor repair shop and had them replace seals and bearings all at same time. I have forgotten what I have been charged for that, but considering they have to be cut off and pressed on, it was very reasonable.
