I have a front mounted hydraulic pump on my TEA20 for my FEL. The shaft that goes through and connects to the bottom pully of the engine is now free wheeling and not turning the pump. What might be wrong and what has to be taken apart to fix this problem? I can't find a fix for this in my manual. Your help would be appreciated.

Could be several things depending on the shaft type. One type shaft is keyed into the pulley and a newer style is splined. I suspect yours is keyed. Mine was. The shaft actually broke at the pulley in mine becauue the FEL frame sagged a little and got the shaft out of alignment with the engine. I tried several repair methods all of which failed. It was easier to get a new shaft and the corresponding peice that bolted to the pulley (splined type). After realigning the pump with the engine, all was ok.

Its possible that the connector came off the pulley, or maybe the keyed sheared.

I got the shaft and connecting piece from my local JD dealer who sells TISCO parts. There is a large supply of Fergy parts listed in their catalog.

You'll need to remove the pump and slide out the shaft to be sure.

I think I paid about $35 US for the shaft and pulley piece and a new flex joint where it hooks to the pump.

i get a local machine shop to make me shafts, this time i had them cut two keys in one at top an one at 90 deg.i had a wheel hub made to bolt to the crank pulley an the shaft slips in there , as long as everything stays tight an in line it works ok but i usually tear them up using the big snow bucket to load dirt , to lazy to change buckets, i guess. good luck
