I have a TEA-20 and have been told that I can put on a draw bar at the back of my tractor, Is this true? If so where would it be mounted? I looked under the back of the tractor last night and noticed 4 bolts directly under the PTO shaft, these bolts look like they are part of a cover plate to get at the underside for repairs and such. Is this where a draw bar would be secured to the tractor? Any help would be great

The TE 20 takes the same mount for a swinging drawbar that fits the 8N. They are available at many farm supply places. They fit at the bolts below the trans. and the other part is held on by the bolts that surround the PTO.

barry: you are correct, those 4 bolts are for the swinging drawbar.(they are blind holes) i used them as mounting points for the rear frame of my homemade front mounted snowplow.

Barry,no,thats not where the draw bar goes.if your tractor has a 3-point hitch as must of thes tractors did,the draw goes inbetween, and at the end of your two lower left arms.the draw bar has pins at the end just like a implament,it about 26" long,3" wide, and 1" thick, with holes in it.

I think you could go either way. If you put a cross draw bar on your 3ph arms you will need arms that go from the drawbar to the pin where you attach the top link. Make sure your draft control lever is all the way down when you do this. If draft control is up and pto is engaged you could damage something.

Its better to fit a permanent drawbar that bolts under the axle casing. That way you can still have an implement on but do the odd bit of towing without having to take it off.
You need a piece of channel iron about 10 inches wide and 18 inches long. Locate the 4 studs under the axle, these may have been removed and holes full of dirt. They are short studs so you will need to do a bit of measuring. Contact me for more precise details. I also made a 3 point hitch drawbar as this can be handy when dumping trailer loads of rubbish, as you can raise the drawbar and rubbish slides off - if you are lucky that is.
Another gadget I made was a set of forks, Really handy if you can get hold of a few pallets.

Dan, this is a more practical solution to my channel iron job, what stops the draw bar from thrashing up and down? Does the end nearest the front of the tractor locate in anything?

Heres a picture of the whole thing. It is just the standard swinging drawbar kit you can buy most places. I believe its the exact same kit for the 8N as well.
