Hi all,
Been gone for a while. Moved to a place w/10 acres
so I can actually use some of my stuff.
Went to move 48 Fergie TE20 from my pasture to home and for the 1st time in a year she failed me.
When I go to start, it will fire and run 1-2 seconds and die. Has to be the carb. Have good spark to all plugs. Timing ok.
Have drained tank - new gas, checked all fuel screens in sediment bowl and carb. Have taken carb apart and cleaned all ports, holes, blew out with carb cleaner and air3 different times. Bowl is full of gas. Float setting look ok and float valve works freely. Started out with adjustments on needle valves as stated in book and tried changing adjustment from one end to the other. Have to pull out choke to get it to fire but won't continue to run.
I'm stumped and ready to haul it to the $$garage$$. Ouch.
Anything else I've missed??

Thanks for any help.

Update,
I had another carb that a guy had given me when I started this project. Cleaned it up and stuck it on to make sure I didn't miss something. Fired up on the 1st try.
Guess I'll soak it the original one for a while to see if it will clean up. Anyway, ready to try plowing a garden spot up.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

how is fuel flow to carb from tank must be really good to run, also how about the condenser try a new one in it, are the points dirty or set correctly, try squirting gas into throat of carb to see if engine runs good on it if it does it is carb for sure. just what I would do.

Thanks for the responses.
As long as I squirt fluid in the carb it will run.
Fuel flow appears to be ok when I drained the tank.
I'll go through the carb once more and see if I can find anything.
Thanks again

blow air back up thru the line I bet there is dirt blocking the flow inside the sediment assembly. could also be dirt in the carb itself you might want to soak it a few days in carb cleaner or boil it in water.

You've covered about everything possible. The only thing I might add is to recheck the float valve for sticking when the bowl gets full and not reopening.

Also Ray, the intake manifold gasket could be leaking enough to not be able to pull fuel up into the engine???? L8R....Fred OH
