Good Morning Fergie Fanatics

I am picking up my burnt out starter tomorrow from the repair shop, is there anything I need to do before I put it back on the tractor. This may sound stupid but remember Im still learning about these little gems. Any help would be great. Bob and Steve need not respond, because I know what they are thinking ( grin )

I've never done anything special with mine , just bolt it back in is all I've ever done . But watch those clearances , maybe I'm just lucky . Don't know about shims ---Take care---Bill

Be sure that when you install it the end of the shaft doesn't end up in contact with the bell housing. It's very close and you may need shims between the bell housing and the starter to be safe. Note also that the shims will put the starter gear a bit closer to the flywheel gear, which is sometimes a good thing. If you find out where to get the shims please let me know; I think I need some myself. Regards,
Jim in Franktown
