I recently had the good fortune to be given a TO-35 (4 cyl. gas). The previous owner told me it is a 1953 model(?). The tractor has been stored in a shed for the last ten years, and was running when placed in storage. Have not taken posession of the machine yet, but will soon and plan to restore. This is a first for me. Where to start???? All the metal seems to be in pretty good shape. I am mainly concerned about the engine right now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If it runs, all you really need to do first is change all fluids & gas and than run it for awhile to see if there are any problems.

if it is truly a 1953 model then it is NOT a to-35 but more likely a to-30. how many gear shift levers does it have?
does it have a push button on the dash to start the engine?
are the brake pedals on the same side?

If it were me and I was given a tractor of any kind I`d first kiss whom ever gave it to me! Then before I did any thing I`d remove the spark plugs and have a look see! Check your fluids and spray some good penetrating oil in the cylinders before trying to crank it over WITHOUT the spark plugs in. Be carefull to take the wires off the coil first! you dont want any sparks when you crank it over. If this old jem does turn over even a couple times stop there and drain that old gas out. its sure to be rotten, gummy, water and rust contaminated so dont go feeding your carb that junk it`ll just be more work! HAVE FUN!
