someone told me that it was possible to turn up oil pressure with a simple adjustment to a screw located near the front of the motor.is this true? the oil pressure on my to-20 runs about 18lbs.is this adequate? the tractor runs very well otherwise.i was also wondering if its possible that my oil pressure gauge isnt working correctly because the amount of pressure doesnt seem to increase with increased load to the motor.any information on this matter will be greatly appreciated

Mine hits about 30 if cold , but holds nicely at 15+ when warm , still original gauge , so hard to tell if accurate . That adjustment is there , near filter , but my Fergie guru , says to leave it alone as it will restrict the AMOUNT of oil getting to your engine , it is meant to ensure a proper load on the oil pump . ----- Bill from Ontario

Good Morning Bob
Before I changed the oil on my TEA-20, my oil gauge was showing 16 lbs. It would not change at all even after the tractor was running for a while. After I changed the oil the pressure jumped to 60 lbs and would drop off to 18 after a hour or so. This is according to my gauge. So I think that your 18 lbs is ok. Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck Barry

18# oil pressure is about normal for Harry Ferguson tractors. The pump relief valve is set for a max. of 30# oil pressure output. Don't put much stock in the accuracy of the original gauges, they're not very accurate but will show wheather you have pressure or not. As long as you have 5# presure at idle the engine will be ok. If your gauge remains constant wheather hot, cold, idling,or wide open it's faulty. New gauges may be obtained from the suppliers listed in the "marketplace" box at left, or use the search box by beginning with Massey Ferguson (no Harry Ferguson listed); follow your selections to your needed part.
