Afternoon Everyone, Well when it rains it pours. After all the trouble I went thru with my carb, I now find myself in the market for a key to start my 1952 TEA-2085. I lost the darn thing sometime between Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. I went for a walk back on my farm and I suspect it has fallen out there. Where can I get a replacement key? The one that I lost looked original. But saying that Im not sure. It may be easier for me to just go out and buy a whole new ignition switch, any comments would be great

Hi! Barry.

When I got my 20-85 there was no key; we started it with a flatblade screw driver. I took the switch out and had a look at it and fashioned my own key and it works fine. It you want a drawing and sizes let me know on the back burner and I'll send one to you.
Al.

Hi Barry
The previous owner of my 2085 replaced the key with a $0.99 toggle switch. No worries about a lost the key now and the young lads in the neighbourhood who might want a little tractor joyride have all grown up.

As others said the universal Ferguson key is available from mail order places and the MF dealer. Two other points: I put a wire (not string) around my keys and can therefore hang them on the throttle lever and over the steering column and they don't get lost. If you want to remove the key from the tractor, at least you have something to hang it with. That way if it is in your pocket, it is less likely to fall out without you knowing. Second, the universal keys you buy sometimes do not fit exactly into your old ignition when you get them, and a little filing may be necessary.

Hi Bob. Nice to hear from you, WOW its that simple to fix? Im learning more and more all the time. Now there is just one thing that concerns me, I have a lad up the road from me that would love nothing more than to take my tractor out for a burn and never bring it back. Oh did I tell you he is my nephew. Honest. ( laughing@me )
