I have a 1955? TO 35 deluxe. I noticed last night plowing snow the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe was glowing bright oarnge. The tractor itself is not running "hot". The little thing runs like a bear, starts easy, idles good. I think it uses too much gas, but thats another story...Any ideas??? Thanks in advance....770

Check your timing. You're probably a little retarted ( the timing, not you ! :^)

A little retardation will allow it to start, run and accelerate really good but will still give the results you state.

On the glowing exaust: I build and Test(Dyno) many types of gasoline engines in my shop here. When a Engine is under a load (ie: 60 percent or more total output loading) it is totally normal to glow on the ex. manifold/ exaust pipe. Remember 1/3 of a gas engines heat is dissapated thru the exaust. This is very true in our tractors also. I am very careful in keeping my TO-35 running perfectly, and in the summer time because Im busy at work,I may not start mowing (5ft finnish mower) my 11 arces until well after sunset here, and after about 10 minutes (Loaded) The exaust manifold/and exaust pipe is a faint cherry red.(I even look forward to it) Dont be alarmed, this is normal. Must owners dont see this because most of our tractors only see daylight dutys. This (my)TO-35 works hard, runs cool (water temp). But always make sure your timing is correct, fuel needle screw is adjusted correct. I hope this helps.
