I tried posting something similar to these words a couple of days ago, but somehow it vanished in the system.

I spotted your email announcing your intention to take a holiday on the beach, and I know that there are some who feel that there is a lack of support from other holiday reps this side of the water.

Be assured that there are a great number of us that totally support what you are doing, and are grateful for it.

Our national behaviour is such that we tend to stay quiet and get on with it, (it's that British stiff upper lip thing) unlike you Americans who are that much more vocal about life. Do not mistake that silence as a lack of support.

Unfortunately the ones who tend to be vocal are the ones who protest loudly at the "evil hegemony of the USA" - they are a very small minority with a somewhat unique angle on life (viz. press cutting lower down the list) and their greatest donation to humanity would be to act as human shields somewhere high on the target list.

Their parents were probably the same ones who wanted peace with that nice Mr. Hilter.

A number of very good friends are already setting up their beach towels (at least the Germans won't get there first for a change, as they are famous for getting to any good beach early!) and scouting for the best views for picture postcards to send home to mother.

You will find you are in good company. Have a great trip, keep your powder dry, and return safe.

Oh, one other thing, try not to overfly France, their ATCs are famous for being on strike (grin).
