Good Afternoon Everyone
Well now that the good weather is here, and play time with my TEA-20 is at hand once again. I have a question regarding an " ADD ON " fuel filter. When I bought my ferguson 2 1/2 years ago, it came with an added fuel filter AFTER the sediment bowl. This is the way it came and I was under the impression that its the way it has to be. am I wrong in this thinking. Could this add on filter restrict the flow to the carb. The tractor has been running a bit ruff lately. This add on fuel filter cost about $3 and its the type that one would use say on a push lawn mower. Any help would be great

Maybe it's running a bit ruff cause the battery voltage is going down.

As long as your fuel line isn't rusting inside, the original fuel sediment bowl and lump filter should be OK. I added a strong magnet in a finger cut off an old cotton glove to the bowl, to catch the 'fine' bits of rust from the tank. Seems OK so far, and doesn't slow fuel flow down at all from the original design intent.

They didn't come with the add on filter originally. Some people like them. However, there have been instances where they restricted flow improperly even when new. You can easily check to see if yours is restricting flow by removing the line from the carb and draining for a minute or so into a clean bucket. Chances are you have another problem, such as trash in your tank or an electrical problem, although as I said I have heard of people who have problems with the inline filters, even new ones. You do have other stock filters, you know, which should be doing the job without the add-on version.
