Which manual?

I've been looking for a repair manual for '55 TO-35. I've found an I&T shop manual and the repair manual sold on this website. The I&T has 80 pages and says it has exploded views. The one on this website has 360 pages and doesn't mention exploded views, but does say it would be helpful to buy the parts manual for breakdown information.
I'm looking to spend wisely, so what manual is the best for repairs and exploded views? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, until I get the manuals, which oil should I use in the transmission?

I have the I&T, the Dealer shop manual Jeff in Illnios discusses and the T020 owners manual.

My order of preferance is the TO20 Owners manual ($12) and then the Dealer shop manual ($20) I like the I&T least as it has small tight print that is hard to read and keep your place as you look as to what they are talking about.

The Dealer shop manual does not have exploded drawingings of individual parts but it does have many photos of the parts on and off the tractor so you can find them.

I would agree that I would like more detailed info if I were going to pull the transmission of rebuild the engine. But these manuals have the basic info I need for most minor tweeks and basic maintenance.

I haven't seen the two manuals you mention but I can comment on a couple of others. I bought one called the Ferguson Dealer Shop Manual for the TE-20, TO-20 & TO-30. It has a blue cover and 187 pages with photos. I was pretty dissapointed with it - not enough detail for my limited mechanical skills. I also bought the original Operation and Maintenance manual for the TO-20. It has a blue and white cover and 46 pages with photos and diagrams. It is actually a pretty good book. It explains how best to use the tractor and goes into light maintenance, trouble shooting and service. Hope this helps.
