Valve clearances ok as you say.
Distributor points .015"
Carb. Main jet 2.5 out turns to start with, then with engine on full throttle screw in till engine starts running rough then unscrew till it runs evenly. If you work tractor hard and it seems a little short on power unscrew half a turn to compensate, but for the sake of economy, screw it back in when you finish the heavy work
Top Screw (air) 1.5 turns out. at idle speed screw it in till engine runs rough again then unscrew till it runs evenly.
When you screw either jet needles in DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN (there is no need for that) as there is a chance you may break the end of the needle off.
All carb adjustments should be carried out at working temperature, dont have the engine speed set too low when idling, adjust throttle stop on carb to about 500rpm (not critical)
Spark plugs .025" for petrol engine use.

Glen. Your right on most settings. The timing is 1 deg. BTC contact breaker gap 014-016". Carb setting is 1 turn out on main jet from fully closed, 1-1/4 turn out for maximum power ( the bottom 3/4" headed one with the rivet head at the edge). The top screw is for mixture and should be set so that the neither hunts nor dies. Start at about 2-1/2 turns and go from there. Do this setting only when you are up to temperature.

Hope this is of help.

Al.

Glen:

Read your note and thought maybe you could help me. Did you have to rebuild/replace the carb., if so where did you find parts?
I have a TEA20 that needs the carb rebuilt or replaced, but can't find kit/parts any place.

Bill,

if you still need carb parts try a UK spares supplier - I bought a rebuild kit for my carb (spindle, bushes, gaskets etc) and it would mail very easily (all parts are small/flat).
