I need a temp guage for my to20. I still hope to get the meter installed. One question, there is a bolt on the side of the housing that returns from the engine to the top hose for the radiator. Can this bolt be removed and a manual sensor for the temp meter be installed there?

Its a blanking plug, its in the side of the housing that the top hose fits to at one end and the other sits on the cylinder head and the fuel tank sits on the same housing...sounds as though you are on the right part. You can remove it for the purpose you require, just hope the bulb on the capillary tube isnt too long for the width of the housing though, better check the depth of it before you buy one.

Thanks, I just wanted to verify from someone before I went down that route of trial and error...

Hi P.J.:
I have a TO-30 and I believe the temeperature sensor to the TO-20 mounts in the same place; in the coolant outflow elbow to the radiator just below the upper radiator hose. There should be a boss on the cast elbow with a plug in it if you don't have a teperature guage hooked up to it. The guages are the cappillary tube thermometer type, simple but rugged. You can find an aftermarket guage/sensor (They come as one unit) in the "Parts" section of this webpage or at most place that sell tractor parts.
Hope this helps.
