Barry
having just rewired my t30 i think i can explain, the generator must be repolarized to make sure it has the correct polarity with respect to the battery ,there are two wires coming from the generator the F terminal connects to F on the voltage regulator, the A terminal connects to the GEN terminal on the regulator now before you start the engine connect a jumper wire from the A terminal of the generator to the Negative side of the battery just hold it for a second you will see a spark but what you are doing is telling the generator to charge correctly for the way you are wired,it worked for me so good luck
