I recently acquired a Ferguson TO-30. Periodically, when I have an implement installed and lifted off the ground, I am unable to drop it back to the ground...something like a hydraulic lock. Can you tell me what may be causing this problem and how it can be fixed?

It sounds like the control valve is sticking in its bush, if you take one of the round side covers off on the side under the seat and you will see inside a long lever extending downwards into the pump and the oil in the bottom, right at thee bottom of that is the control valve, try moving the lever inside back and forward to see if it is completely free, if it is check the oil, is it thick and gooey, most likely is, try changing the oil if it is. Should be a straight mineral oil 90 weight (no deteregent in it)that may make it easier for the valve to move. To fill it it takes 24 US quarts. If you still have problems post a message here again. DONT PUT YOUR HANDS INSIDE IF THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.
