I am eagerly awaiting a 1952 TO-30 being brought over this weekend to my place in New Hampshire from Northern Maine. I have a thousand questions. Most interested in:

1) I paid $2,500 - was this fair? Overall condition very good, hydraulics good, tin good, has rear scraper, snow bucket, fork lift setup, recent 12v conversion.

2) Is leaving it outside okay? I see so many tractors left out over the winter and wonder if it's no big deal, or the owners are not taking good care.

3) Would like to connect with interested TO-30 owners, organizations in NH/ME.

Brian,

I am on the board of FENA - The Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America. We have about 400 members spread throughout the country. We put out a great newsletter 5 times per year. We also hold an expo each year. 2001 Waverly Nebraska, 2002 Salem, IL, 2003 Mt. Pleasant, IA and in 2004 it will be in NE Ohio - Ashtabula area. We have at least 5 members from NH. Our club is devoted only to Ferguson from Ford/Ferg through the F-40's that stopped production in 1957. The majority of our group has TO-20's, TO-30's and TO-35's due to the large numbers produced. Our members have all kind of Ferguson's including those made in England. My interest stems from my father being a dealer starting in 1950 and from using them extensively on farms in the 50's and 60's. If you are interested in our club you can contact John Iwen 1811 Parkway Dr Bettendorf,IA 52722 phone 563-441-0204 johniwen@yahoo.com Hope you enjoy your Fergie. Best regards, Don Feekes

I just rebuilt a TO30 for my son. I think your price is VERY reasonable. If it does not already have a Zane Thang installed, I would strongly suggest you get one before you go bonkers trying to keep the lift in one spot. My son tried before he bit the bullet and had me order one. Nope, I'm not his brother in law. I'm just amazed at the simplicity and how easy it was to install and how good it works.

Brain...I'd the the price you gave for your tractor is more than fair...and I would never leave my tractor uncovered in the weather espically way up where you are living, I live in the south and mine stays sheltered.
Can't help you with the organizations or owner delimna for just a to-30...there are a few clubs on the net that are ok but most clubs are of a wider verity of types. I'd like to see a club totally devoted to the TO series. you can drop down the page to the talers board and find some really good people in your area ,but they own a wide verity of tractors.

best wishes...

Welcome to TO30 ownership Brian. You will enjoy your tractor. I have a '51 TO30 (paid $3000 for it with some extras). I find myself making excuses to do something on it. You got a good deal by the brief description you gave. Many here are happy to help if you have questions. They usually appreciate you being as specific as possible so there is no confusion. You should spend some time reading these archives, they have helped me a lot. I will bet your first few hundred questions have been answered already. Post a pic of your tractor when you can.

To answer your question about leaving them out - My tractor was always outside (4 yrs.) until I got it. It didn't seem to bother it any. Perpetual sunlight may rot the tires faster though. I would suggest changing the fluids as soon as you can. Mine had what looked like the original fluid in the trans/axle/hydraulics. Yes they all share the same fluid -- 80wt mineral oil. Give that puppy a workout to free up all the junk and get the old stuff warm then let it drain over night. It holds 24 quarts. Have fun with it. good luck.

I can relate to your excitement. I have a TO35 that I did a partial restoration on and I have one I bought for parts for $100.00. I didn't have the hart to part the $100.00 one out so I'm right in the middle of building it. It won't be a perfect restoration but it will be a great tractor. I'll send you pics if you can get me your email address.

You will love that tractor doesn't matter what you paid for it.

Mickey
