Good-day,
Not sure if I should add this question to my first Post-a-msg or start a new one. Apologies if I am not following protcol.
Read in the archives that you can take the radiator cap off and check to see if there is any water movement! I started doing the vinager cleanse and after 45mins never saw the mixture move when viewing through the cap hole.
How long does it take for the thermostat to openup when idling.(also took the grey for a few small trips to get it to heat up), and does this mean the stat is the culprit. Bolts were too tight and could not remove stat to see if any water flow could then start.
Happy boxing day.

Well, removed thermostat and after trying twice to use gasketgoo, got a real gasket and final;y got a water tight seal.
But still over heats in around 30 mins.
To test for a blocked radiator, was told to remove bottom hose and see if the water jets out to over a foot. Is this true? mine goes about 4 inches. Looks like my next step to take radiator out for a roding. Still think a chunk from the damaged thermostat some how got into the water pump area.

first are you sure you even have a stat? was your radiator getting warm? if so your water was moveing. most of the time you will use this trick to look for a blowen head gasket. but just because you could not see movement it don't mean is was not

Yes, sure does have a thermostat, have it in my hands in several bits and pieces. Looks like it was in the open position! Will get a gasket today and try it out without a thermostat. Also can now see water flow in the top of radiator, so think the water pump is OK.
Grant.
