Ferguson manufactured a small baler to be powered by the light duty T0 20. It was introduced
in the season of 55. It was called the Tractor Mate.

This little machine had a swath of around 4ft and was bolted to the drivers right side of the tractor and ran along side it. The PTO ran back to a side gear arrangement to transfer power to behind the baler.

It wasn't a large seller because of it's size not because there was anything mechanicaly wrong with it.

I found a photograph of one, a little too late for me as I was looking for a small baler such as this when I had my ford 8N.

As anyone seen this baler or does anyone know where there is one for sale?

Have a friend that has one, for show only here in Ohio, somebody from England had wanted to by it to be shipped but he won't sell it, many multiple thousands $ but they also had their own engine mounted to power the baler

Hello Bluelite. The last I heard about the balers you are talking about, the one that mounts on the side, there was only maybe half a dozen left in the US and only a few in Canada. These type of balers are rare and if you have one you are lucky. I've only seen pictures of them and I've been going to antique tractor shows all my life. I'm not sure of the full story about these balers but I think that Ferguson had some kind of a recall on them and had them cut up for scrap iron. Only a handful survived. I'm not sure about the reasoning for this but something about being ahead of their time. Good luck.
