Hello everybody! I just spent this past Saturday skidding firewood out with my old ferguson. It ran like a top.Nothing like the sound of a old ferguson under load.It was a great day!Any ways here is my question . How much horse power is my ferguson 20-85? I've heard as high as 28hp and as low as 23hp.Even some of the books say different things.Just wondering.Bye for now.

Hello guys.I don't know what I did before I had my ferguson ' it sure saves alot of work. I skid all my wood to one spot too. Then I cut it up and haul it out later.I have a outdoor furnace so I try to stick to the smaller trees so I don't have to split much which suits my ferguson just fine.I built a custom trailer to haul the wood out.The back wheels on the trailer set back far' so the weight is put on the tractor. This seems to work good for traction. The ferguson is great in the bush because it can fit in some tight spots unlike bigger machines that knock everything down.I keep a blade on the back to push brush out of the way'and to hook my skidding chains on to.This way I can lift my trees off the ground a bit while skidding' this seems to work great.Bye for now. P.S Thanks Jim for the horse power clear up.

they sure do help a guy out john, i busted my back up pretty bad years ago and my fergie has filled in quite nicely to help me often, i use the loader for lifting most everything now.how do you like the outdoor wood stove , i was just looking at some on sat. nice but pricy about 6000 grand to get the smallest one they had that will do 2000 sq.ft.

Hi tool man.I love my outdoor furnace. It's the best thing I ever bought besides my ferguson. Its made by Empyre. It's the smallest one they had and heats my house fine plus my hot water.Cost about 7 grand installed.Great for getting rid of "junk" wood like dead pine and ceder. With my trusty ferguson and custom trailer I can haul the wood right to the furnace door saving me alot of work. Bye for now.

Morning John

Yep, nothing like the sound of a Fergy under power. It must have been one of those weekends.I was in the woods with mine as well. Hard to imagine a few years ago, I cut and split 10 cords of wood with out her. I now drag the logs to a central place and and split it right there. She sure has saved my back

20-80s were 23.9, 20-85s were 28.2, so that's why you'll have heard the different numbers. You have the big powerful one :)
