Gas was pouring from the carb yesterday. The hose from the air intake was deteriorated, and gas was pouring from the hose!
Do I need a new Carb, or is this normal.
Can I just replace the hose, and be right with the world?

Ask your dealer or automotive shop for a float
valve, commonly called a needle and seat. add a new bowl gasket and that will fix the problem.
Not hard to fix.remove bowl screws, slide the pin out that the float pivots on,and with a huge
screwdriver unscrew the seat with the needle in it
A bonus would be some carb cleaner or an overnite
soak. This is common to most carbs and will be
simple and inexpensive. Guarenteed!!!!! !

Thanks to all.
I am going to order a gasket kit, and clean her up.
Looking at the schematic, the carb doesn't look too complicated. Paul

I had the same problem. Took the carb in to an implement shop. Only cost $30.00. Also replaced the hose. Look for someplace that works on ford tractors. Dick (IA)

I agree with Dale.

Pulling and cleaning a crab is one of the easier things to do. However if you have never done it before envite a friend from work who has give them a beer clean the carb together and have another beer.

I picked up a new MF65. The guy who got there before me passed as it would not start. A couple of hours of basic maintenance and a 30 minute carb cleaning and she started right up.

You should replace the hose to keep debris from being sucked into the carb. However, it has nothing to do with the gas coming out. As Dale said, probably you have a sticking float valve in the carb. Or it could just be flooded. Sometimes tapping the carb (lightly) will unstick a float valve. If necessary, overhauling the carb is not difficult and can be done in 30 minutes by someone who has done it before. Chances are, however, once you get it started, just run it awhile with some new gas and it might be ok.

On my TO30, if that scenario appeared, I'd blame it on a carb float that didnt cut off the flow of fuel from the tank above. Mine is weak in the carb department. When I shut down, I turn off the fuel at the sediment bowl and let it run until its outa gas...
