lever for 3pt. hitch comes up on its own when using attachment,I was using rake in the yard and the lever will come up-lifting the rake a little bit (but the rake is still digging in the dirt a little bit) then I push down on lever to put rake back down and keep my hand on the lever a little putting pressure down on the lever (when I keep my hand on lever it works good) the rake doesn't come up very much at all but it doesn't dig in to the dirt like I want it to,I do have a little weight on the rake to make it dig into the dirt better,I was told to tighten the castle nut where the lever is,haven't tried that yet-couldn't get the cotter pin out,I was also told that the spring behind the seat should turn when you have an attachment on it,and not turn when nothing is on it,it turns very easily with the attachment on, (I had the attachment lifted when I tried this) and it turns with no attachment on but turns much harder but Iam able to turn it by hand completely around without to much effort this never did this before it always worked great, the lever would always stay where ever i put it. any help would be great.

As you were told previously, tighten that nut enough to stop the lever from creeping and you'll eliminate your problem.

newguy, Ray,IN has the correct fix. On the "neglected" TO-30 I bought, I found the cork friction gasket beneath that plate had disintegrated. Inexpensive to replace.
