hello all I have a TO30, it has been making lifter noise so I finally got around adjusting them, well the big noise and problem is a broken valve spring, lucky though it is the first one on the rocker close to the front towards radiator,I got the old one out after fighting with it, is there a place available to obtain just 1 spring and retainer clip? or is there an easy way to remove one and save the clip. I have a parts fergy, but if it is easier to get a new spring and clip I will, unless there is a "trick" to getting these out, thanks for the help in advance.Pat

To remove the old one, bring #1 to top dead center, put air pressure to the plug hole {an adaptor is available} You will probably want to rent a spring / clip remover from a parts house ie autozone. As for a replacement, any good machine shop can match up the spring and retainers. I'm assuming you are doing this without removing the head. Hope this helps. Good luck, have fun!!

Though I will be the first to admit I am not well versed in the internal engine workings. I know I used a valve spring compression tool when I took a small engine repair class down at the vocational school. This tool compressed the retainer clips and spring so they could be easily removed.

I would thing that a replacement spring would be an easy thing to get from an auto parts store.

my $.02 anyway fow what it may be worth
