It's called the "master control spring". It should be adjusted with weight on the lift arms, such as a plow. The spring is adjusted while the impliment is raised. The spring should turn with hand pressure but have no end play. Nearly always the yoke on the outer end of the spring is frozen on the threaded shaft, DO NOT attempt to force the end yoke on the outer end of the spring to turn. You'll twist off the much smaller parts on the other end. If the threads are frozen, removing the hyd cover is necessary- and much cheaper than replacing the broken parts from forcing the yoke to turn. The procedure is explained and detailed in the HF TO30 service manual available from a Massey Ferguson dealer.
