3 point lift quit lifting

I was using my box blade on my driveway and everything was working fine. I lowered it and when I went to raise it nothing happened. My fatherinlaw told me to take the top off(under the seat) but it will not lift off. I searched the forum and read about a fork that might have come loose but I'm not sure. Help please.

Hi Alan,
The fork he is talking about is the linkage that connects the quadrant lever (that you operate, to the right of your seat) to the control valve in the hydraulic pump, which is right at the bottom. It is fairly common that the linkage pops off the valve and this could explain your problem.
To lift the top off requires that you disconnect the linkage from the valve first (completely - it could be half off), or you'll wreck the valve.
Reach in through the two round plates on the side to spread the fork, after first draining the fluid out.
Even after this though it can be tough to get the top off, if you still need to. A couple of times I have jacked up the tractor under the boss for the lift arm and just let the tractor sit until its weight finally broke the old gaskets apart. They are really strong for some reason. Maybe just age.
