I am installing the hood on my tractor and I have a question. What is the purpose of the formed rod that is mounted on pivot clips that fasten to the front pivot housing? My IT Ferguson Manual does not show it and it does not seem to serve any purpose. Does anyone have a picture that shows what it does and how it is supposed to be mounted. Ir looks to me that it can only go on one way. Help!! Thanks.

The rod is part of the latch to hold the hood in an open position. The wings that stick upright on either side of the hood down low by the pivot is the reiease. Just pull these wings back toward the steering wheel and lower the hood. This can be done on either side of the tractor.

If I understand the part that you are describing. It is the hood lock release. The TO-20 hood will lock open and this lever releases the hood so it may be closed again.
