Older Hobbs meter and an oil pressure question

I am in the process of restoring my 1954 TO 30 to its former glory. The tractor had all of its guages broken and I am looking for a source for an older clock style hobbs meter. I found a 1952 new in box one on ebay but was rapidly outbid for it.

Secondly, I had replaced my oil pressure guage with a new one that has a much smaller diameter flexible line on it. After I installed it there was no noticable pressure on the guage. I bled the pipe till oil started coming out the line and reistalled it. Still very liitle to no pressure. I removed the line from the block and I do get oil pumping out there. Should I try to get another guage with the original size line or rebuild the oil pump?

Thanks,
Tom H.

Tom, You don't need to bleed the air out the line supplying the oil pressure guage. It'll still read the virtually the same pressure with a air bubblwe in it Your engine is possibly worn and the clearances are opened up and the thus have a low pressure reading. The acceptable pressures for a TO-30 are 20 - 30 psi at 2200 rpm and 15 psi at idle.
It may be possible to that your oil pressure relief valve has a weak spring or is stuck open also. Hope this helps.

The line size will only reflect in volume, flow not pressure. Do make sure there is on sharp bends in line. Check The engine pressure at the block.
