I have a chance to buy a 2-14 bottom pull type plow. I was wondering if my average running to-20 could pull it satisfactory in a clay soil? I checked archive and saw no information on this topic, so thought I would get some of the posters on this discussion group to give me their input.

P.J. As marlow says,2-14 mounted. Used mostly 2nd gear with a TE-20 and later a TO-30.

not sure what this means?
"2/14 trailer plow NO 2/14 mounted YES "

This plow is made with two wheels at the front, and a depth wheel inthe very back, It is adjustable as far as depth, etc by two long handle with notched settings. You raise and lower it with some type of drive clutch that you pull a rope and it raises and lowers as the wheels turn. Anyone know or used this type plow?

what do you mean "mounted"? does this mean attached to the 3point hitch? How is mounting different from the pull type plow with depth adjustments?

A TRAILER PLOW IS A PULL TYPE !! AND A MOUNTED GOES ON THE 3 POINT!! AND WILL GIVE THE TRACTOR MORE TRACTION WHEN IT"S IN THE GROUND

looking at the pictures under the photos, I believe the plow is a IH little genius #8 2-14 plow. I will also want to use the plow with my Farmall Super C on another farm I own.

The Little Genius will be ok for the Super C. The TO20 will have a harder time pulling it, they work much better with 3pt (mounted) plows. If you have wheel weights and/or your soil is not real heavy clay, you might be ok.
