Just wanted to let everyone know I had an awesome time today plowing my garden plot. My 1955 TO-35 did a spectacular job with the Leinbach 2-14 plow I bought at auction over the weekend. This was my first experience plowing, and it was so much fun I want to plow the remaining 10 acres right away (but will probably have to wait for now!) The time I spent repairing the draft control over the winter paid off, as the "Ferguson System" worked flawlessly.

I hope everyone gets a chance to plow at least once, to see what these tractors can really do!

Hey Justin, I just plowed for the first time this weekend too!! My TO-35 did great... but I need to learn alot more about setting the draft control thingie!!! Seems to be deeper in spots than other places. Time to read through all the manuals I got with the tractor!

Have fun with it!! (I know I am!!)

Dana,
Jeff-OH is right. If you have deep and shallow spots, maybe there are some hard spots in the ground. The other problem may be that you are plowing using "Position Control" and not the "Draft Control" lever.

On the quadrant control, set the draft levers to the approximate depth you want for plowing. Tighten the hand nut. The upper knob will allow you a small amount of adjustment as you go along. Also remember that the position lever should be all the way down in the "Response" range. Your books will give more detail, but that is the basics!

Most importantly, keep having fun!!

Ahhh... now things are starting to make a little more sense. (...not that I have any more sense...) Trying to read things in a manual is sometimes like trying to learn Calculus from Cliff Notes, you could do it but, SHEESH! Reading the part about the draft control in the owners manual was telling me that it set the depth and the hydralics changed the depth as needed. It's the pull on the tractor, not the soil you're in! Starting to figure it out... best go play with it some more, you know, to "get more experience"... : )

Not tring to be preachy here or nuthun' but draft control is constant pull on the tractor, not depth in the ground. i.e. if you go from loose soil to thick heavy clay the draft control will lift the implement up to a lower depth to keep the pulling force constant.

FYI only.

Picture looks great.
