I don't know its year but it's an old gray one in very good condition, with a loader which Dad removed before he died. I ran a bush-hog with it quite a bit last summer and discovered that the 3 point hitch didn't work any more to lift the Hog. (I did have the odd row with large rocks, and might have damaged something). When I checked the transmission oil level it seemed very high. I don't know if something is broken, or if the oil from the loader has gotten where it shouldn't be. There is a push-pull switch of sorts on the hose down by the gear shift that I have adjusted every which way with no discernable effect.

I need to get the three point hitch lift going in case of ploughing this spring, so what do I do?

I'm new at this. Antique boats are my hobby, but now this farm has arrived by inheritance.

I also need a pto cement mixer and a plough.

We live just south of Ottawa, Ontario.

Thanks,
Rod

Morning Rod

Im passing thru Smith Falls tomorrow morning on my way to Kemptville. I bought some white pine seedlings at Ferguson Forest Center there to plant on my 100 acers.I live just north of Stirling. Anyway getting back to your question. There will be a plate behind the steering wheel on the dash that should tell you what your tractor is, serial number etc. The hydrualics are a bit more than I can answer. When I bought my Tractor ( TEA-20 ) it had a loader on it already. It was mounted in such a way that the loader supports where held in place by the 3 point hitch arms. In the down position. So when you raised to lever to the 3 point hitch the hydraulics would raise the Loader instead. The loader was ok but made the tractor totally useless to do anything else with. ie: mount a plow, scraper blade etc. because the 3 point hitch arms were in use by the loader. Anyway , welcome to this site , its a great place for information. heck we may even meet oneday. Good Luck

I suspect the remote hydraulic control valve is the culprit. On these tractors only one may be used at a time if using the original tractor pump, either the loader or the 3pt lift. The remote valve should have a screw that will either make the remote valve work or the quadrant (internal valve) lever. I suggest removing excess oil from the hyd/trans/diff common resivior. The easiest way is to remove a side inspection plates bottom bolt and catch the excess oil with your drain pan. The bottom bolt is where the oil level usually is when full. If the oil is dirty or contains water now is the time to drain and clean the 3 areas(3 drain plugs). It's very easy to overfill because it takes several minutes for the oil to level out when adding oil.

I may suggest as an alternative for starters that you could crack open the drain under the hydraulic pump to let out excess oil. This way any water in the system that will have collected over the years will come out first.
However replacing the oil altogether is no doubt best.

It may be stating the obvious but the PTO has to be in gear and the clutch engaged before the pump will work too. Won't lift if PTO isn't turning. You probably know that from using it last year.
