Morning Everyone -- Remember the Old Ferguson that I picked up for $20 ??? Well I had a guy stop into the house last night. He apparently had seen it sitting in my yard. Funny how guys just see thing like that. Anyway he asked me if it was for sale. I told him that everything I own is for sale except my wife and kids.Oh, cant forget the hunting dogs. He asked me what I would take for it. I never said a word. He looked at it for a bit and kicked the tires. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a wad of $100's. He said how does $2,000 sound.. I have to say, I have never @#$%^&^%$# my pants in public before but I was very close last night. I asked him if the $100 bills were good. There have been a lot of counterfit bills lately around our area. He said he was just at the bank that day, but if I wanted to check with MY bank that he would leave the money with me and he could pick up the tractor tomorrow night. I extended my hand and we had a deal. I asked him where the tractor was going. Just then I happend to look at his license plate. It had Quebec plates on it. I asked him where he was staying. I have a freind up the road that sells seed to farmers for spring planting he said. He was here to pick up a load of seed and happened to see it sitting in my yard. He was planning on heading home yesterday but wanted to hang around till he seen me 1st. By the way, wife is talking to me again. YAHOOOOO O

Barry, do you suppose the saying "silence is golden" would be appropriate to this situation? Congratulations. Just hope he is not a regular viewer of this web site. Ha! Now, is your wife going to share in the spoils?

Paul

I think the reason you didn't @#$%^&^%$# your pants is cause there is a horseshoe stuck somewhere.

Barry do you feal that the tractor was worth 2000 $ or maybe the demand for these old tractors is going up with all the new houses being built in the country with large lots .

Morning Glen,Jim, Paul & txblu -- I really think these old tractors are worth there weight in gold. The guy picked up the tractor last night and as he was leaving said and Im quoting here " I would have paid more " So one wonders what they are really worth. I freind of mine said once that an item is worth what a person is willing to pay. Around my neck of the woods people from the city ( Toronto ) are moving out and buying property, putting up these huge houses. They sell their homes in the city for big bucks and have money left over to play with once they are done building. So if you have on old tractor hang on to it, my opinion is that they will always increase in value. Glen, ya going to the Perth Road run??? Jim will your tractor be done by then? Stay well everyone and keep looking in the corners of fences and behind old barns

The bottom line is that $2000 CD (~$1500US) is a fair price for a TEA-20 tractor. That was a good deal to him too. Nothing, to be ashamed of in this deal.

Hey, Barry.... you forgot the most important thing to gloat about. It's not the money you made. How is your WIFE taking this? As I remember you were in the doghouse over buying the TEA in the first place. What her opinion of you and your tractor hobby now??? (p.s. If you use some of the profits to take her out, buy her something etc. and you will be able to ride this wave for years, I bet)

You could probally go and get two or three more at this point.

Jeff

Afternoon Jeff
Yep, all is right at the Barry house these days. I thru her $1000 and told her to spend it anyway she likes. I have had steak and spuds everynight since. She likes to plant flowers and hanging baskets. I dread going home tonight. It will be a veratable greenhouse at my place. No matter, when the little lady is happy so am I. P.S. I have a lead on another old tractor.Another Fergy. If I get it I will have to let her sit till the end of the summer. I had an old fallen down barn given to me last night. I have to clean up the mess. I bet there are 30 to 40 old hand squared beams in it. Each about 25 ft long and 10 inches thick . I want to put up an old fashion driveshed at my place. To keep Fergy and 1 years firewood in. Likely make it 20x30. Its just over the road. So I will be taking my TEA-20 over this weekend, trailer and all to start dismantling it. Oh one more thing wife didnt give me crap for hauling this old barn home. Have a great day everyone
