Hello, I have a 51TO20 and was wondering if anyones has any good Ideas on keeping the boxblade locked in one position..When I have the blade set at a specific height, it lifts up freely but then falls back into postiton.. I dont like it floating up as its doing, but Im sure its just the way its designed..My idea was to small hyd. cyl attached to the leveling arms with a hyd line lock, so it raises and lowers freely untill the linelock is engaged..then its held there and prevented from lifting...Thanks for any replys.Paul

I have a TE20 and a new Bush Hog. I know it is not a box blade but--here is how I manage to keep the blade level and not let it go digging. I made two 4X4 blocks of wood contoured to the axile housing and shaped to receive the outer end of the lifting arms. I securely attached them in place by brackets from the seat bolts. With the Ipliment at my desired height, the weight is supported by the blocks down to the axile housing. I position the control lever to full down position (no Hydraulic Pressure an fixed it there with a stop . On an upgrade the impliment will lift via the pivoting rear wheel and when it comes down of its own weight, the 4X4s take the weight with no action on the part of the hydraulic system. I have only used it once when I had to abort for a brake problem on the tractor but it seemed to work well. Have I overlooked anything that might damage the tractor over time? Comments anyone?

Have you considered using a similar set-up to the Ferguson (anti-sway/stay) bars that link the top link to the bottom links (eg when towing a trailer using 9 hole drawbar to prevent the lift arms from lifting when braking the tractor/trailer) - something like that would prevent the lift arms from being lifted by uneven ground, so improving the efficiency of your box blade.

Probably cheaper to make than a hydraulic cylinder setup, though not as easily adjusted in use.

Hello and thanks everyone. Can anyone describe the Zane Thing.,or is it similar to the chains setup or a type of turnbuckle link, still allowing it to free float up? If so,I think I will go with the hydr. setup...When Im done I will post a few pics...Paul

Never seen a Zane Thang, but my guess is it allows free float - so try your idea and let us know

A few products are advertised here that do just what you ask. They hold the impliment at a set height. I can't remember thier names, just do a search for the subject.

Hello, and thanks..Are you refering to "the Zang thing"? If so that device keeps it at acertain level, but stil allows the box blade to raise up...Thanks again.....Paul
