Hello and Help Somebody has told me that it sounds like the
bearings in the motor are gone. Because the preasure drops from 40-20 while in gear. Is this
a really expensive problem or one I can fix at
Home. I have had this tractor for three years now
and every year I end up shoveling the barn out by shovel and elbow grease. thanks

Can someone tell me what a TO-20 with no attatchments weighs. I plan to tow one I purchased 400 miles. Will my Chev 5.3 do the job?

Our to=30 had 3 psi wide open for years and 0 at idle, did not realize they had higher. If it starts to knock, then tear into it.

As the other posts said, change the oil and filter. Put straight weight oil in, the muli weight is up to
40# viscosity modifier.

Hi Alleta. I have a to20 which drops to 25-30# hot and working. No noises, no problem. These engines relied more on volume than pressure. Good luck, have fun, muck the barn with the tractor!!!

Absolutely - change the oil first, then worry (maybe).

Over here TEs with the Standard engine run at 10 psi quite happily at full throttle all day with good oil. Start to worry if the top end (rocker cover area) gets noisy at higher revs, as it is a sign there ain't much oil getting there.

Bottom end knock is very noticeable if you get it.

I changed my main bearings to try and improve oil pressure - waste of time, the original bearing shells were in, and the crank was still within tolerance after 52 years - not bad going!!

HTH

Have you changed the oil lately? I had symptoms like that when my oil had gas in it and new oil and filter fixed it.
If you have bearing problems you can usually hear them knock.
Jim
