How straight do I make it?

I have just removed the hood of my '54 TO30 to start the restoration. The previous owner had a problem with it and really banged up the entire front of the hood and the grill. I am getting all of the grill fins straight and I have the bottom of the grill as an angle guide for the grill but how straight or angled is the top of the grill and how far out does the nose of the hood stick out. The damage on mine has the nose badly dented in and hammered out to a flat front. This is also causing the latch not to work. I have looked at a lot of the pictures in the shed but have not found exactly what I need. By the way there are a lot of nice Fergy pictures there. I hope to put mine up when I am done.

Thanks

I just measured my TO 20 at t he top of the grill where it meets the hood. The center of the grill protrudes outward 1 7/8 inch to 2 inch. I also measured over the crank hole an it had the same amount of protrusion. Keep in mind that my tractor is not exactly an unmolested original.

Tom , heres a picture of the 30 I just finished sorry the pic is big and a little fuzzy but you should be able to see the contours of the hood ok...this hood had a bid dent on the top front where a tree limb fell on it, I had maybe 20 hrs fixing that one dent, I also did it without using filler of any kind, Its all hammered and rolled back to its orginal shape by hand and using a torch and wet rags, then just sanded and primed heavy and resanded. Its all in how "you" want it to look as to how straight you want it....I like them factory straight if at all possible....

best wishes

Thanks, even though the picture is fuzzy I can get a good look at the angles and how the hood should look. Mine had been repaired (I use that loosely) with a ball peen hammer and everywhere is dimpled. I am also trying to get it hammerd straight so that no filler is needed.

Ps. beautiful job on yours
