I am pulling my hair out here, I have a to30 that I have just a valve spring to put back in, it was broke when I went to adjust the valves, I have been to I cant even remember how many parts places, looked in books and have had almost 10 different kinds of keepers sent, all wrong, I removed one from another exhaust valve to show the parts people what i needed,They dont know ...The keepers are 2 "C" clips that drop into the top cap,,,they all keep saying the cone shaped ones will work, I cant get them to work, I have another parts to 20,and to30, took the valve keepers out of them and they are different too, any suggestions,, as a last resort I am thinking of changing the whole valve and rotator cap from the other 30, but that will make this the only one with the cone keeper,,any thoughts? pat

Well I know no one answered this but I will say how I fixed the problem, after the last wrong keeper, I got to thinking,, it looked like a 1/4" lock washer, so I cut one in half, had to do a small amount of grinding on the inside of washer, and WHOO HOO it went right back together,, man a week of frustration cured for less than a penny,, have a great day guys pat

Pat - great you got it fixed - I thought my TED was supposed to have the 'Rota caps' fitted - but they were only fitted to the Standard diesel, not the Standard petrol engine - so which engine do you have, and are you sure that you are supposed to have the 'Rota caps' ??

Late I know as you have already fixed the problem, but I can't help asking the question anyway.

It is a Z 129 continental,,gas Job, Her is a kicker, I have a few n series tractors as well, Today there was a thunderstorm, I couldnt work outside, so I was looking in my Ford N series parts manual, was I surprised to see the same 2 clips I could not find for the fergy listed as parts for the valve springs for the 9n,, weird because the n series is a flathead , and the fergy is overhead valve,, I wont feel so stupid next time asking for ford parts for a fergy,, you learn something new everyday, have a great one, pat
