Hi all... thanks for the info. on orc and shaft sizes. I'm having the shaft made up this evening. I'll have a shaft of solid square stock that slides into a piece of square tubing with a 13/8 spline on each end. Is there a preference as to which end goes to the tractor? I'm thinking solid stock (male) or maybe it wont matter. Thanks again. Mike

My brush hog has the hollow end of the PTO shaft on the tractor. My flail mower (different PTO shaft) has the solid end on the tractor. I think whichever way is easiest for you is going to be the right way.

Well, for what its worth - on my mower the solid shaft does go to the tractor, and the tube goes to the mower, but I don't know if it is convention or a happy accident.

Either way round, the shaft should function just fine.
