Would like to know what the valve lash setting is for a to-30?And if i only need to do a cold adjustment,I have been told i should do a hot adjustment after the cold but i am not sure if this is needed. And what position the crank should be in when i adjust certin valves?thanks steve

I have a TO-20, just adjusted my valves a few weeks ago after a rebuild. See the comments on the similar post a few above this one. I don't have may manual right here with me to check for sure, but I am 95% sure the TO-30 valve adjustment is the same as the TO-20 valve adjustment, which is .015" cold , and .013" hot. The crank position isn't critical as long as the valve your checking is in the "relaxed" mode - meaning your not on the "push" cycle on the cam lobe, and pressing down on the valve. I highly recommend turning your engine by hand, watching the valves cycle, adjust your tappet clearance, then turn the engine a few times with the starter, and check them all again. Might have to do it a couple times to make sure you are happy with all the tappet clearances. My experience is the hot clearance check is not critical is you did a good job with the room temp. check.
Good Luck.
