Clutch adjustment TO 30

So, i replaced my drive plate and put the tractor back together. The system seems to be in a bind some place. The clutch wont engage at all and the starter can just barely turn the flywheel... The only three causes I can figure out are 1) wrong drive plate.. 2) no hydraulic oil, since it's all been drained... 3) pressure plate adjustment. The oil doesnt seem to make any sense to me, but those are the only three things that are different from before. Anyone got any advice on narrowing the cause? IM geting tired of putting this tractor together and taking it apart... I need some fresh insight. Thanks

Darin... Do you have a service manual? A good one will take you through it step by step...

What ever you do... Do not force it back together.... Do not use regular gun grease on the splines as it will collect dirt and then you will have problems again.... Use a light weight white grease like you get in a small tube. It will turn to liquid and disapear leaving a clean slick surface.

Did you use a clutch aligning tool while tightning up the pressure plate? Sometimes you have to release the presure on the clutch plate while sliding them together even then.

If you take the time to study it out I sure you will get it... "Lots O Luck"....

Could you have possibly put the clutch plate/plates in backwards? I have not done a Fergie as of yet but I know a car plate can be reversed, the offset would definitely cause a bind. You should have been able to rotate both the motor and the transmission freely before joining. Do NOT force anything. good luck Mike

The plate is in the right way.. Iv'e tried it both ways, and one is significantly worse than the other ;)

So how hard should it be to cinch upo the last inch or so of the tractor split? Apparently its been too hard... What about greasing the splines? Maybe that new drive plate is just a bit too tight or something... I just can't imagine what it is binding against... its pretty crazy, and it's driving me NUTS.. Thanks for the help...
