I have a TO-35 that hasn't run in years. The steering seems to have frozen on it(can't turn the wheel), the body is practicaly non-existent, the tires are also practicaly gone, but the motor is free and has compression. My question is, does this thing have any value as it sits? I plan to try to start it this spring, if it ran what would it be worth? Finally I guess dollar wise is it worth it to restore(not show worthy but new tires, and etc.) to use it? any help would be appreciated. by the way.... We stopped using it years ago because our farm mechanic when I was a kid was not very good and the electrical system caught on fire so many times that they felt it was not safe....yes I would replace it...thanks

A TO35 that is running nice but not restored and painted sells around here in the 2800.00 - 3200.00 range and up... It is definitely worth fixing. There isn't much to an older tractor's wiring so just make a new wiring loom. Whatever you do... DO NOT send it to the salvage yard... Harry Ferguson isn't around to build any more of those WONDERFUL litte grey Fergies.... They will increase in value in any state of repair much faster while our money is becoming more worthless....

I understand your point, I am more of a pack rat for the simple fact that I see these old tractors slowly disappering in the future and I hate to throw them away, but I am in college and barely paying my bills so I guess I will hold on to it fo a day that I have more time and money to put into it. Besides we have a MF 135 Diesel and it has the same tranny and rearend and unfortunately it could be a parts tractor for it...but not if I have anything to say about....thanks for your advice....but not much easier of a decision ( besides I am a closet Massey fan, openly I have the other red tractors (IH) and currently I have two in the shop and one just sent out finished, I guess I shouldn't bite off more than I can chew....TOO LATE!!!)

Sounds to me like you are going to have your hands full on that tractor. I haven't worked around the steering but if that tractor is in that bad of shape, I would probably bet that the motor isn't going to run. If it does it is hard telling for how long. Estimated value if it runs is maybe $500 or so. To rebuild, figure a minimum of $1000 or more. This is strictly opinion, nothing official or professional. You might make more money out of parting out the tractor than to sell it as a whole.
