TO 30 Front Axle

I recently bought a "53 TO 30. It"s in great mechanical shape and seems completely original except for the front axle assembly, and I"m hoping someone out there can help me identify it. It appears to be from a newer Ferguson, and looks like it originally was painted silver with red hubs. The big clue is that the spindles appear to be a "quick-grease" type with grease fittings on the ends of the spindles, serviced through holes in the dust caps. Could the axle assembly be from a newer model, say a TO 35, or maybe a TO 30 option or even a standard feature toward the end of the run? Thanks for your help!

My 1950 to-20 came from the factory with the same grease fittings. They are recessed in the dust caps . I have broke one of them off but was a easy fix. I try to grease every time I use my tractor.

Thanks for your reply. If it is a factory feature I"ll feel better about it. I"ve still got to take one apart to see what"s up.

I'd say it is the standard front end that someone has drilled and tapped the dust covers for a zerk fitting cause he run through a waterhole occasionally. See if theres any casting numbers on it and post back. Can't think of any reason to change front ends unless you went to a heavy duty one for a front end loader or power steering. Looks like the zerks would be kinda easy to tear off out there on the end of the spindle...then you'd have a bearing full of dust or worse. This is my guess. Fred OH

Fred OH,
Thanks for your reply. Your opinion seems very reasonable to me. My assortment of manuals just arrived today so I"ll look through them to become a little better informed. Also I"ll jot down the casting numbers for you and pop the dust caps off to get a better look at things before I post back. It may be a few days but I"ll get it done. Thanks again.
