Recently while operating my tractor I began to have problems with the steering. When I try to turn the steering wheel to the right, it turns very hard. Also, when I turn then wheel to the right, I have noticed the entire steering wheel assembly rises up out of the steering column. Any help on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I am just going threw what you mentioned in your post. The lower bearing exploded, allowing the shaft to rise and come almost completelt out of the suide gears. Pull the column and rebuilt it with new upper and lower bearings. Pulling the wheel is the hardest part. Once it"s off you"ll see what i"m talking about. Good luck

Ray, IN may be right about the rebuild, but there are two adjusters (hex lock nut and screw) either side of the steering box that will allow an amazing amount of free play to be adjusted out - well, it worked for me, anyway.

This a sign the steering box must be rebuilt. The thrust bearing is worn, allowing the entire steering rod assembly to work up and down. It's not a difficult job if you have the repair manual and a moderate knowledge of mechanics.
