Hi all... I thought I had a really great idea for a front bumper (to run over small stuff) but if I make it I"ll not be able to open the hood (bonett). Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Mike

I bought a bumper/grill guard for a ford and had it hinged at the attachment points. I could swing it open and then raise the hood. I just had to be sure to swing it open before I raised the hood or the grill would hit it. Just and idea.

Make the side pieces longer, so the bumper is about 6" in front of the hood. That allows more room for hood opening.

The only downside is that it sticks out a bit farther when you're turning. Dad caught the machine shed once with my tractor.

Also - Don't make it too tall. The higher it is, the more it interferes with the hood opening.

I strongly recommend putting a hitch on the bumper. It's great for backing wagons and stuff into tight places.

I still have address' of guys wanting a picture of my 1953 TO30 W/"original" front bumper. I will eventually get the picture emailed. I still haven't figured out how to include a picture in a post. My father is in stage 5 Alzheimers and this summer has been a blur; and, I crashed my computer by installing Windows XP-SP2. Send me your address and I'll include it in the list for distribution.

I put a Ford unit on my TO=20 by mounting it upside down! Works fine and does not interfere with the hood opening. All the best to you and your dad. Regards..... ....P

Ray, you might consider putting the picture of the front bumper in the Galleries under parts and pieces . See left hand side of this web page.

Ray, I'm sorry to hear about your father's illness. He'll be in my prayers.
