Ford N-Series mufflers, as stated above, are different from Ferguson. I got the proper downswept system from Orscheln Farm Supply in Sedalia, Missouri for $23.99 plus tax. Fits like a glove, looks nice and is quiet and leak free. I figured why mess with a vertical exhaust or some other junky looking affair from a mail order house that I didn't know. I wish changing the oil was as easy as changing the exhaust system. The oil filters on TO-20's are a royal pain!!! Regards..... .P

Hey, I just bought a muffler vertical pipe and muffler on-line at at site called Davistractor.com. It only cost me something like $33 and change. Shipping wasn't bad either. Before I bought it I searched the discussion board achives... that's how I found this site. One guy suggested going to the local muffler shop... I tried that it was going to cost too much in here in VA... so I bought the cheap thing on-line. I heard they weren't real high quality, but it has to be better than the patch job I have now. It is supposed to arrive from Alabama sometime tomorrow

Yes I have but they connect to the manifold quite differently. The Fergie one has a flat flange with two bolt or stud holes, and the downpipe flange and the manifold flange have a gasket compressed between them.
The Ford one doesn't have the flange; it uses a round coupler instead, sort of like a rad hose clamp. There is no way to connect this to the TEA manifold. I cut the flange off my old Fergie exhaust and welded it to the Ford one, and it worked out. I did have to bend it a bit to clear the radius arm, but it was easy to do. You can save quite a few $ by doing this but it doesn't end up a very quiet system.

My '50 TEA20 has a nasty, cobbled-up vertical exhaust made from water pipe. Not only is it ugly, but it's under-sized!

I'd love to put the proper thing on it but I'm afraid to ask the dealer what the parts would cost.

That exhaust will rob you of a lot of power, try to get it changed if you can.

Mike,
It's not too bad - for my other Fergie I went and bought the vertical exhaust setup. The parts came from Vapormatic and were $29 for the elbow (U shaped piece) and $34 for the muffler and pipe, which is one piece. ($Cdn). While you're at it don't forget the gasket.

I got a Ford muffler for 20 bucks at princess Auto. I welded on the Fergy flange and had it going again in no time.

Yes, the Princess Auto muffler is definitely a good deal. They actually have quite a few interesting bits suitable for Fergusons.
