Greetings,
Very kewel setup. After looking at your pics, I then turn around and start peeping out my TE20 and 1st thing I notice is that I don't have those hydraulic fittings under the seat like your's does. This leads me to a couple of questions, did the TE20 come out with those fittings after a certain serial number? -or- could that topend have come off of a T020/30? Is it possible to boltup the hydro cylinder topend from a TO20/30 onto a TE20?
I'd like to harness that hydro power in my TE20 for more than raising & lowering the lift so after seeing your pics, I'm wondering if there is a way to tap into the hydro.

Thanks
Volfandt

That arrangement was fitted to TE tractors after serial number 330,044 1953 If yours hasnt got any tapping points at all on the top cover, there was an earlier type that had an Allen screw in place of those big plugs and you could use them (3/8"BSP) and an earlier one than that, didnt have any at all, but you could tap off the hydraulic pump base right at the bottom directly below the seat on the square plate. On one, maybe two corners of it there are sealing plugs you can tap into those for power.Be careful if you do use them because the metal is quite soft and you need the correct threaded adaptor to screw in. 1/2" x 20tpi and make sure the sealing washer is a good fit too.On all tractors there is provision for tapping into the Hydraulic Pump base for power.

Thanks for the reply John. The top plate on my TE20, where those taps are on later model tractors, is as smooth as a baby"s behind. No large or small bolts present. The bottom plate does have two plugs at either corner of a raised boss from the center of the plate. Those must be what you"re refering to. The front one is approx a couple inches or so from the muffler and the rear facing one is on the opposite side. I"d probably use the rear facing tap inorder to keep away from the muffler should I utilize the hydro power.

Yes you got it, those are the tapping off points for yours. The one near the muffler is a bit tight to get at and someimes you have to modify the rear bracket on the muffler to get clearance for any fittings you may use but it will work ok. Just dont forget to use the correct adaptor I told you about in the last mail or you could strip the threads in the Pump otherwise everything will be fine. You can use either plug, we used the rear one for the trailer tipping pipe but it doesnt really matter what you plug into either.

Hi Tim Great job on the winch. A word to Boss-Hog,,,there is a small period at the end of Tim"s address thats why it wont work for you. I tried all morning and finally figured it out. Delete the period and then cut and paste. Works great. Im in the process of hooking up a 12 Volt 1500 Lbs winch to the front of my TEA-2085. All I need to do is raise and lowere the blade. I will post pics when Im done. Take care Everyone. I will be gone for the next 2 weeks, its hunting season here in Ontario, can you hear the deer running from me,, no wait its laughter Im hearing.. Stay well everyone

Well Barry if you're going to draw a deer in with that winch you'd better hurry up and get it working. And are you sure 1500 lbs will be enough? Like, what if you spot a moose while you're out there? Jim

Thanks for the help, Barry. Hadn't noticed that danged period.

I looked at an old winch off a wrecker once. I wondered if I could mount it on the 3 point hitch and hook it up to the PTO somehow. Would have really been something for pulling logs out of the woods, pulling out stuck tractors, etc. I think it had 5/8" cable if I remember correctly.

But I never did try it.

What did you do about the platform rising vs. the winch pulling i.e. when the carryall rises to the stop it would normally stop the pump from operating. How did you deal with this?
Jim

We attached a piece of large chain just below the toplink on the Carry box. On the end of the chain there is a Large Carabiner. Usually on the tractor there is a place you can attach a tow ball. We placed a large shackle there. Before we retrieve the boat, we lower the carry box and clip the Carabiner on.

Also the carry box seems to fall as we winch in with a large amount of weight on the back, so we also have two chains we clip on the carry box to hold it up. This may be because we still don't have enough oil in her yet, as we have a bit of an oil leak to fix near the clutch housing.

Anyway , I will get some PICs next time I go down to the beach.
