Does any one make a rear main seal other than the rope one ?

Sound good too. As long as it stays lubed and doesn't get to hot. As long as the joint in on top. You could even glue it with industrial contact cement if you wanted to go that far.

All you have to do is put a little thought and most things will work out.

Al I just finished rebuilding my TO-30 and I used a large 1/4" cross section "O" ring and cut it in two strips the length of the rope grove. Get it wet with oil so it will go in the cut out easier. It took me two trys to get it in the cut out and had to file the sharp edges off to keep it from cutting the "O" ring.

I would take your outside diameter and inside diameter and depth of the fit area and take it to your local bearing seal outlet and see if he can make a seal fit. You will have to give him exact reading and he will build in the interference on the shaft. My 2 cents worth.
